Hello, all! My first post here at Dreamwidth, glad to be here, etc. etc. I decided I won't crosspost everything to my LiveJournal and vice versa, just a few fandom related things, probably. And memes. I love memes everywhere.

So, I'm making a new introduction post for here!

First things first! I'm a white North American in her twenties, a strictly heterosexual cis-female. I'm going to university majoring in English and minoring in History, and I have one year left. I've considered being a teacher, and it does appeal to me because I love young teenagers, they're a ton of fun, and I'd like the opportunity to change their lives. It's also the age of students that make a lot of young, inexperienced teachers tear their hair out (and even cry!), so I'm a little intimidated by the idea as well.

Classes I'm taking:
- American Lit. (about to start on the works of Poe, so pumped~)
- Canadian Lit. (kind of dull, tbh)
- Milton (Paradise Lost, yo - easily my favourite class)
- The World Since 1945 (the best history class I've ever experienced, bar none)

I am a very committed evangelical Protestant Christian. I grew up in it, but it's not my parents' religion I've just passively gone along with. I'm old enough to know that this is what I know and this is all I want. I'm not too concerned with denomination (I consider myself inter or non-denominational, whichever). Catholic, Protestant, Baptist, Presbyterian, Pentecostal, whatever. If you believe in God, are pursuing Christ with as much of your heart as you can muster, and are regularly, intentionally living a life of prayer, conviction, and action for Him led by the Holy Spirit... You're my sibling. Everything else will handle itself in the end. I can get really specific into what I believe and chances are I will strongly disagree with everyone on something, but seriously, I love theology. I love thinking about it, I love discussing it. It's great.

People and things I read/listen to regarding theology:
- John Piper/Desiring God
- Mark Driscoll
- Matt Chandler
- John Stott (currently reading The Cross of Christ)
- Francis Chan
- The works of C. S. Lewis (favourites include the Screwtape Letters and Surprised by Joy)

Stuff I'm getting to but not yet:
- J. I. Packer
- Jonathan Edwards
- R. C. Sproul
- Dietrich Bonhoeffer
- J. C. Ryle

A little disclaimer or addendum or whatever you want to call it... I do not intend for this space to be full of arguments and misunderstandings. Please do not take my faith and extrapolate certain politics onto it. I realize that actually taking the Bible to be truth means that my beliefs are not going to be popular. I won't compromise on them.

If you're not sure where you stand, have been burned by Christians before, are anywhere outside the straight cis-gendered hetero-normative culture, or even simply have a different religion - I want to extend an apology for any hurtful and ignorant behaviour you might have had directed at you. I want to be your friend. I would like to get to know you, see what we have in common, sympathize with your struggles, and have a lot of laughs. Even if we disagree on everything that's important to the both of us, I still think we can get along and talk about... whatever.

I consider myself lucky that I have one of the best family and friend situations that I know of. I have a great relationship with my parents and siblings, we all get along, we enjoy each others' company (most of the time), etc. I won't go more into my family sitch unless I have a story or something. I have great friends, both irl and on the net, I'm becoming a little hermit-ish this year though... Hmm... Yeah.

Onto fandom. I love all kinds of books, movies, shows, video games, etc. and I love writing fanfic, reading fanfic, and discussing all kinds of stuff about it. I'm not the kind of fan who can or will stick with one fandom for months and months and maybe years. I flit between fandoms like an ADD butterfly, and whatever I'm on this week, I likely will not be in a month or so's time.

Currently am into:
- Supernatural (I'm on my bi-annual re-watch, (sorry, I mean every two years not twice a year) and I'm not caught up, so no spoils until I am, mmk?)
- Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol
- Marvel things, about to get more into the actual comics. Avengers, X-Men, Young Avengers, Madrox, etc.

Stuff I'm not "in" but I'll talk about and write fic for:
- Kingdom Hearts
- Tales of the Abyss
- Tales of Symphonia
- Avatar: the Last Airbender
- Sherlock
- DC Comics
- Young Justice
- Final Fantasy VII, X, XII, XIII
- Community
- Animorphs
- Probably lots of other stuff

So that's me in a little nutshell. More to come, you know. No specific plans for this journal, just whatever I feel like. I expect it'll mostly be fandom-related, but hey, I may want to come and vent about classes or something every once in a while, who knows. Also, I have a strong propensity for run-on sentences and sentence fragments, fair warning.
